IMG_0936Growing up, I wanted to be a ballet dancer…and eventually became a clinical psychologist.  Somewhere in the middle, I encountered the stress of life and discovered yoga and meditation. I soon realized that yoga combined my love of movement, the study of psychology, and much, much more.  Plus, it made me feel great!

I got my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology in 1998.  After working in private practice and in the state mental hospital system for several years, I began teaching yoga at the state hospital to fellow staff members during my lunch hour, which became the highlight of my work week. This encouraged me to complete teacher training at the Esther Vexler Yoga School, and I am now registered with Yoga Alliance as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT200).  My yoga studies are always ongoing: I’m currently working on my 500 hour training with Christina Sell and Gioconda Parker, and I continue to study neuroscience and anatomy, as well as buddhist and yoga philosophy.

I am currently the Director of the Esther Vexler Yoga School (EVYS), San Antonio’s first and only non-profit yoga teacher training program. I previously served as President of the Board of Directors of EVYS from 2012-13. I have also enjoyed teaching in the Southtown Yoga Loft Soul Awakening Teacher Training Program. I have contributed to several yoga websites, including Yoganonymous and Teachasana, and my work has also been published on Elephant Journal and Yoga Dork. In addition to teaching yoga, I’m an adjunct professor at Trinity University and the University of the Incarnate Word, where I teach psychology.

In individual sessions, I combine my training and experience in traditional clinical psychology with eastern philosophy and practices such as mindfulness, meditation and yoga to help clients create positive changes in mind, body and spirit. Although I specialize in anxiety and eating disorders, my clients have a wide range of issues, including trauma and substance abuse. I also enjoy working with yoga students for private lessons, and coaching.

I teach group yoga classes that are fun, and will help you find clarity, strength and compassion, both on and off the mat. By practicing mindfulness of breath and body alignment in a light hearted way, you will make great strides in your practice, and in your life! I am also available for workshops and seminars on a variety of topics. Please see my schedule for more information, and call or email me with any questions or for a consultation…210.865.1749 or
